The Town of Day received its name from John W. Day, one of its earliest residents, who came there from Alabama. In 1876, Mr. Day and his brother-in-law came down the Suwannee River and stopped at the old McCall Ferry. They liked the place and decided to stay. Other early families include Williams, Friar, Fowler, Prine, Buchanan, and Barrs.
