The Lafayette County Historical Society, Inc. was incorporated in 1984, for the preservation of historical landmarks and the history of Lafayette County. The Society was active for several years prior to its incorporation. In the past, the Society has supported Pioneer Day which includes a parade and fair in the Mayo Town Park. Also, the Society was active in the restoration of the old log cabin in the park.
