 Pioneer Day Committee of Lafayette County Florida

The Pioneer Day Committee is pleased to invite you to participate in our 29th Annual Pioneer Day Festival in Mayo, Florida, October 10th & 11th 2008.  If you are a returning vendor, then we extend to you a warm welcome back to our town and festival.  If you are a first time participant, we feel that you will be glad you came.  The weekend is sure to be full of excitement and activities.  We have a wonderful agenda planned for all who participate.  This year the Parade will on Saturday, October 11th, 2008, beginning at 10:00AM and will travel down Main Street. The Festival will be held on FRIDAY 5pm to 10pm and on Saturday 9AM to 6pm.

 Security will be in place all day Friday and Saturday during the event and all night Friday for the convenience of our vendors and is provided by a certified law enforcement officer.  During the event, The Lafayette County Sheriffs Department will have a rapid deployment center in the park.

 Mayo Town Park will be open for setup beginning on Friday October 10th.  Vehicles will only be allowed in the park until  4:00pm on Friday.  Set up for Saturday only vendors must be done after 10:30pm on Friday night, with ALL vehicles must be out of the park by 8:30AM Saturday.  No vendor will be allowed to break down until closing time.  Any vendor found breaking down their booth before closing will not be invited to participate next year.

 Spaces will be given on a first come first serve basis. Applications must be postmarked before August 31st, 2008 to avoid a 10% late fee.  Be among the first to send in your application early and receive the best space available.  Please note that all applications MUST be completed in full.  Any incomplete applications will not be processed, so be sure to include a contact phone number and email address if possible.

 The State of Florida requires all vendors to have tax identification numbers.  If you do not have a tax number you will be able to obtain a temporary tax number by contacting the Department of Revenue in Lake City Florida.  Their number is (386) 758-0420.

 Due to safety concerns raised by the Sheriff Department of Lafayette County, please be aware the following items are NOT allowed to be sold during Pioneer Day Festival.

Ø      Poppers, fire crackers or any explosive device, regardless of strength.

Ø      Any item that creates a difficult to clean byproduct such as Silly String or confetti

Ø      Slingshots, wrist rockets or other human powered projectile weapons such as;

o        slings, bows & arrows or blowguns.

Any vendor found to be offering these items will be required to leave and no refund of application fee will be given.  The Pioneer Day Committee reserves the right to refuse to allow any vendor, solicitor or patron to participate in the Pioneer Day Festival.

Please Note:

Ø      To receive a space a current copy of your tax number must be included. If we do not receive a tax number we will be unable to assign a space.

Ø      Spaces are given on a first come first serve basis

Ø      Vendors purchasing a space for both Friday and Saturday will receive a discount, shown below.

Ø      Applications not POSTMARKED by August 31st, 2007 will be subject to a 10% late fee, due before both space is assigned, be sure to have correct contact numbers above.

Ø      No vendor will be allowed to break down until closing for that day.  Any vendor found breaking down before closing for that day will not be invited to participate next year.

Ø      Craft spaces are 12 by 12 feet, food spaces are 12 by 24 feet (ENLARGED SPACES!!).

Ø Generators will be allowed within the park that create no more noise than an idling vehicle.

The Pioneer Day Committee sponsor of the Pioneer Day Festival does not provide liability insurance for the protection of spectators, merchants, or others involved in similar activities who participate in the Pioneer Day Festival.

 In consideration of participating in such activity, the participant does hereby release and forever discharge the Pioneer Day Committee, it officers, officials and members, jointly and severally, from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims and demands for upon or by reason of any damages, loss or injury, which hereafter may be sustained by participants, merchants, spectators or others in consequence of participating in the Pioneer Day Festival activities.

 This release extends and applies to, and also covers and includes all unknown, unforeseen unanticipated and unsuspected injuries, damages and loss and liability and the consequences thereof, as well as those now disclosed and known to exist at the time, to the person executing such leases, are hereby expressly waived.

 I hereby agree on behalf of my heirs, executor, administrators and assigns to indemnify the Pioneer Day Committee, and all members and officials of the Pioneer Day Committee, jointly and severally, and hold harmless from and against any and all action, including attorney fees, which may at any time be incurred by reason of my participation in any Pioneer Day Festival activity.

 It is further agreed and understood that said allowance of my participation in the pioneer Day Festival is not to be constructed as an admission of any liability and acceptance of assumption of responsibility by the Pioneer Day Committee; it's officers and member, jointly or severally.  Festival participant shall indemnify the Pioneer Day Committee it's officers and members, jointly and severally, for all damages and expenses become liable as a result of any alleged act of the festival participant.
